Both have a place. Official account export is useful for a broad data request. This extension helps you choose particular classic Claude projects and organize them for reading, backup or Obsidian.

Official Claude export
Claude documents an account-data export from Settings → Privacy, followed by an email after processing. Its download link expires 24 hours after delivery. Team and Enterprise access depends on organization settings and role.
Checked October 30, 2026. Provider export workflows can change. The 24-hour limit applies to Claude’s email link, not to files already downloaded.
Selected projects, local files
Load accessible projects, select the ones you need, and export readable Markdown plus raw JSON, instructions and accessible original knowledge files. Each project gets a ZIP; large projects split into parts.
Downloads do not depend on an emailed export link. They still require an active Claude session and successful requests. Failed or unavailable items are reported, not quietly marked complete.

ChatGPT Projects, Beta/Cowork, automatic Memory and conversation attachment bytes are not included. The exporter does not promise a lossless account migration or automatic import into another AI.
